PostHeaderIcon Divorced, Desperate, and Deceived by Christie Craig

Of the Divorced, Desperate, and Delicious club, Kathy Callahan is the last surviving member. Oh, her two friends haven’t died or anything. They just gave up their vows of chastity. They went for hot sex with hot cops and got happy second marriages–something Kathy can never consider, given her past. Yet there’s always her plumber, Stan Bradley. He seems honest, hardworking, and skilled with a tool.

But Kathy’s best-laid plans have hit a clog. He’s handier with a pistol than a pipe wrench, and she’s about to see more action than Jason Statham. The next forty-eight hours promise hot pursuit, hotter passion and a super perky pug, and at the end of this wild escapade, Kathy and her very own undercover lawman will be flush with happiness–assuming they both survive.

I love Goodwill he fits so well in the story! I love when authors use animals to humanize books and Christie Craig did a good job doing it. I also loved the ending to the book! I was worried during the cabin shoot out Joey really was one of my favorite characters I didn’t want to see him gone I am glad he got his happy ending too.

I laughed so hard at the hat! And how they found the poor guy in the porta-potty.

Okay this book totally rocked. I bought it on a fluke at RT because I took one look at the cover and absolutely loved it. I kinda wish I would have read the other two first so I could get the back story before reading it, but it was still great without it.

PostHeaderIcon Lover Mine by J.R. Ward

In the darkest corners of the night in Caldwell, New York, a conflict like not other rages. Long divided as a terrifying battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the city is home to a band of brothers born to defend their race: the warrior vampires of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

John Mattew has come a long way since he was found living among humans, his vampire nature unknown to himself and to those around him. After he was taken on by the Brotherhood, no one could guess what his true history was or his true identity. Indeed, the fallen Brother Darius has returned, but with a different face and very different destiny. As a vicious personal vendetta takes John into the heart of the war, he will need to call upon both who he is now and who he once was in order to face off against evil incarnate.

Xhex, a sympath assassin, has long steeled herself against the attraction between herself and John Mattew. Having already lost one lover to madness, she will not allow the male of worth to fall prey to the darkness of her twisted life. When fate intervenes, however, the two discover that love, like destiny, is inevitable between soul mates.

This was a really good addition to the brotherhood collection. J.R. Ward writes characters that you just can’t get enough of.

Now this wasn’t one of my favorite in the series. I do love that she added more Quinn and Blay they are my favorite! But I really wish she would put them together the way they are supposed to be. And she left a big void to have more books to follow.

Her next book is supposed to be with Payne.  I can’t wait. I also heard rumor that she plans on putting Blay and Quinn together, but it wouldn’t be a full book, maybe, just an anthology. Please, oh, please, JR I would really, really like you.  *LOL*.

PostHeaderIcon Ravished by a Highlander by Paula Quinn

Yea! I’ve finally found a lull in my busy past few weeks to sit down and talk about Ravished by a Highlander.  I actually emailed Paula while I was reading it, cause I just found it so refreshing.  I had been reading a lot of hot and sexy books lately, and Ravished by a Highlander is not one of those.  And I don’t see that at all as a bad thing.

It takes me back to the books I read when I was younger – back to the Julie Garwood’s early historicals.  Back when my escape was more about the story and the setting than anything else.  I loved reading the books set in the Highlands.  The kilts.  The romance of it.  Reading Ravished by a Highlander took me back to that place, and back in a place in history where England and Scotland were in a bit of a rocky place – the time while James II was on the throne.  Okay.  Maybe not the time of trouble that the early 1700′s would be with the Old and Young Pretenders, but the throne could be viewed in a state of flux. But this isn’t a history lesson.  But I did get a glimpse into that time.

Here is the blurb:

Forbidden Love

Davina Montgomery is no ordinary English lady. For her own protection, she’s been locked away from society, her true identity the Crown’s most closely guarded secret. Until a shocking betrayal–and a bold rescue–land her in the arms of a fierce Highlander, a powerful warrior whose searing gaze and tantalizing touch awaken her body and soul.

Undeniable Desire

As the firstborn son of a powerful Scottish laird, Robert MacGregor has no loyalty to the English throne, but he’s not the kind of man to leave a woman in distress, even if she is English. He vows to deliver Davina to safety, unharmed and untouched. Yet one stolen kiss leaves them both smoldering with desire…and desperate for more. With Davina’s secret threatening to destroy his clan, Rob must choose between everything he holds dear and the one woman he can’t live without.

I’m going to need to go and find Paula other books.  But if you like Highlanders – read Rob and Davina’s.  I really enjoyed their tale, and yes, Rob is a hottie in a kilt.  There are a couple of those in the book.  I also liked James II in the book.  It was a different view of him, since he is usually portrayed in not such a good light.

If you are looking for some escape, read it.  If you are looking for a wonderful read that isn’t sexy – read it.  This book also got me out of a little bind.  My husband asked me if I had read anything recently that DIDN’T have sex on page 100.  (I was watching The Tudors at the time – which I think the amount of sex in the show prompted the question.)  I handed him Ravished by a Highlander.  He didn’t believe me – and proceeded to read all around page 100.  So, see, Paula’s books might get you out of trouble. ;) Seriously… Highlander lovers – read it.  And the cover is very distracting.

PostHeaderIcon Back In Black by Lori Foster (SBC Book 5)

In a hookup this hot, someone’s bound to get burned….

Drew Black, president of the SBC fighting organization, is a controversial as they come. But this hothead entrepreneur is a perfect match for his popular sports club venture: uncompromising and extreme. Maybe too extreme. with reputation for saying what he thinks Drew’s been causing a lot of friction. That’s why someone’s been called to clean up his image–before he does any permanent damage.

The lucky lady is Gillian Noode, a PR expert who has smoothed out the rough edges on many a man. Now opposites aren’t simply attracting–they’re igniting. But in the rising heat, who will end up on top?

Lori Foster yet again delivers a great story in her latest SBC book. With a bonus story between Brett and Audrey its a total winner. I love Spice the cat and how much Brett loves her. Always a sucker for a man who loves animals.

Honestly I loved that Drew stayed true to his rough exterior I mean who doesn’t love a manly man. I’m happy that she stayed true to him. Gillian is one of my favorite females. My fav being Jackie but Gillian comes in a close second.

I totally recommend this series. This is the second of her series I have read. The first being the Visitation series and I loved those too. For more information on this book and all of Loris books check out her website at http://www.lorifoster.com/

Amongst seeing her at RT I also signed up for her reader retreat and I am so looking forward to it! Who knows it might just have to turn into a yearly thing!!!!!

Kaylie is a warrior! Her people are in need of help and she sees Mallet as her guardian angel. No matter how sexy he is she is a warrior, and therefore,Mallet is off limit. Can one man change her fate and the fate of her people?

I think this one is my favorite so far Lori added a element of surprise that I just loved. Anytime you put fighters and the supernatural its bound to be a winner.

Anastasia Bradley is one hell of a life coach. Do to unfortunate events her career has taken a sudden downfall. But Stasia is determined not to let her stop. Uncle Satch hires her to keep his nephew headed for the belt he so desires. What she desires is his heart.

There is a bonus added in here with barber and Jasmine story. I fell in love with Barber in book number 2 and I am happy he got his happy ending.

PostHeaderIcon Causing Havoc by Lori Foster (SBC Book 1)

Love is worth fighting for….

Sexy, Sculpted extreme fighter Dean “Havoc” Conor has knee-melting good looks–and thick skin. But not from his brutal sport’s enclosed rings. Orphaned and torn from his sisters as a boy, he has no family. That is, until he gets a letter revealing how much the once-little girls want him back in Harmony, Kentucky.

Now all Dean has to do is protect his sisters, win Eve over, and expose a devious criminal. And he thought winning the heavyweight cage fighting belt was hard…

If you like to watch the UFC you will love this series. You can defiantly tell Lori is a fan! I love how she made her characters in this book both macho and caring all at the same time. Her family dynamics in this book are also great. Not only in Havoc’s family but Eves as well.

This is the first in her SBC Fighter series and easily transitions into the next one. For more information on this book and the rest in this series check out Loris’ website at http://www.lorifoster.com/ .

PostHeaderIcon In Scandal They Wed by Sophie Jordan

Image me, all gidding with GLEE when I was handed an Avon ARC card in January for In Scandal They Wed by Sophie Jordan. I was going to buy it anyway, but to read it early! I squealed! I swear, I think this is the best book by her yet!

What kind of woman would marry a man she only just met?

The kind with nothing to lose.

Long ago, Evelyn Cross sacrificed her good name, her freedom, and any hope for love. Now, in the remote English countryside, she struggles to survive and avoid the scandal threatening to destroy all she holds dear . . . until a sinfully handsome viscount arrives on her doorstep, offering marriage, salvation, and tempting her with so much more . . .

What kind of man would marry a woman he only just met?

The kind bound by duty.

Fresh from war, Spencer Lockhart returns home to claim his title and right the wrong his cousin perpetrated upon Evelyn Cross. In need of a wife, his marrying her is a small price to pay for duty. But when he meets her, the fiery chit is not what he expects to find in a ruined lady. As desire flares hotly between them, honor is the last thing on his mind . . .

What kind of man and woman would marry when they’ve only just met?

The kind who could ignite a scandal with just one touch.

Sophie made Evelyn’s cause real to me. She took on her sister’s disgrace as her own, and sacrificed her life for this child that would have been otherwise cast aside. I love this twist to the marriage of convience/ruined woman story, cause while you might think that she was forced into the situation, you know that Evelyn did it all by choice, her choice of what was right, and how she would fight to ensure the safety and happiness for the child.

Meanwhile, Spencer, who thinks that marrying Evelyn will solve multiple problems for him. (Just like a man.) He would be able to take care of his cousin’s child, keep the “mother” from being a pain to him, and have a wife to bare him an heir. Instead, he ends up with the perfect woman for him.

If you haven’t tried Sophie, check her out!
